About Merging Vendors
Have you or a colleague inadvertently created an extra a vendor record because you didn't realize the vendor record already exists in your Sage 100 Contractor system, only with the name spelled slightly differently?
Sage 100 Contractor provides a way for you to consolidate two vendors by copying related records and references from one vendor record (from) to the other (to). When you merge vendor records:
- References in other records (invoices, purchase orders, subcontracts, and so on) to the source record are redirected to the target record.
-
Ledger transactions and vendor balances are updated, as necessary.
- Fields that are integral in the to record are not modified or supplemented with information from the from record. (For example, addresses, terms, custom fields, and the contacts list are not changed or removed in the target record.)
Note: The merge process does not create a new record. After merging, Sage 100 Contractor marks the "from" record inactive, preventing its use in future. The "to" record remains active.
If the merge process encounters an error, the merge process stops, and both records are restored to their original state.
