Exporting takeoffs to files

Note: This functionality is available only if you have the Estimating Module.

Consider the following points before exporting takeoffs to files:

  • You can make a file containing most of the assemblies and parts necessary, or you can make one containing a simple outline.
  • Instead of using an existing takeoff, you can create a new takeoff for the file.
  • You can also export a takeoff as a template that has no association with a job. (For more information about takeoff templates, see About takeoff templates.)

To export a takeoff to a file:

  1. In the Sage 100 Contractor main menu tree, double-click 9-5 Takeoffs.
  2. In the Takeoff Launch window, double-click a job to start a takeoff.
  3. For each grid:
    1. Delete any unwanted assemblies or parts.
    2. Delete any unnecessary values for variables.
    3. Delete any unnecessary quantities.
  4. On the Export menu, click one of the following commands:

    • Takeoff File to export the takeoff file, keeping the association with the job.
    • As Template to save the takeoff as a template, with no association with a job.

    The Save File window opens.

  5. Name the file, and then click Save.
