Creating a SQL Server instance
Moving your data to a new drive
Removing a SQL Server instance
Moving Sage 100 Contractor companies to a new SQL Server instance
Use this procedure if you want to move your companies to a different SQL Server instance on the same computer. (For example, you might want to keep your current and archive companies in separate instances.)
Note: When you move a company to a new instance, any scheduled maintenance tasks are also moved to the new instance, and removed from the old instance.
Before you start
Make sure that the SQL Server instance to which you plan to move your data is compatible with your company data. You cannot move your company to an instance created with an earlier version of Microsoft SQL Server.
To create a new SQL Server instance:
- Start Database Administration and connect to your current SQL Server instance.
- Click Server Management > Move Companies to Other Instance.
-
Fill out the fields on the Move Companies to Other Instance tab:
-
In the Company list, select the checkbox for the company that you want to move.
-
Select the destination SQL Server instance. From the drop-down list, select the instance where you want to move the company.
-
Select the option to set up nightly maintenance and backup tasks for the company in the new location, and then:
- From the Select the time for nightly maintenance list, select the time to perform maintenance for this company.
- From the Select the number of backups to keep list, select the period of time to maintain backup files for this company.
-
-
Click [Move company].
After moving a company to a different instance
This process does not upgrade your company data. Therefore, if you are moving archived companies created with an earlier version of Sage 100 Contractor, you will need to upgrade the company data on the new instance after you move the company.
