Use the icon to save a copy of your current Sage 100 Contractor data to your Data Drive.
Only the Sage 100 Contractor administrator (ADMIN user) can back up data or restore data from a backup copy.
Tip: You should back up after making major changes to your data and before performing major operations such as year end processing. You can then restore backed-up data to your Sage 100 Contractor database using the icon, if necessary.
To back up your data:
- On the Sage 100 Contractor home page, click .
- Select the database that you want to back up, and then click .
- On the Set Dataset Directory screen, browse to the folder where you want to put the extracted data files (called "datasets"), and then click .
- Click to proceed.
- When prompted to confirm the deletion of any existing files in the folder you specified, click .
A control file with the extension .DCT is created in the folder you specify, and the extracted data is saved in a subfolder with the same name as the DCT file.
The name of the control file is the database ID with the .DCT extension.
Important! When storing extracted data, you must retain both the control file and its associated subfolder.
- In the Dataset Description field, enter a description of the backup file, and then click .
- Click to close the Summary message.
